Postdoctoral Fellow, Chemistry

University of Saskatchewan (includes colleges)

Postdoc, researcher / analyst

Primary Purpose: The Price group ( at the University of Saskatchewan (UofS) is looking to recruit a postdoctoral fellow to focus on radiometal production and radiochemistry (targetry, cyclotron production of radionuclides, radiochemical purification, and radiolabeling). The selected candidate will help with radiochemical separation and radiolabeling of imaging radionuclides (including but not limited to 44Sc, 89Zr, 45Ti, 64Cu, 68Ga). The work for this project will heavily utilize the new and rapidly growing Saskatchewan Centre for Cyclotron Sciences facility (operated by the Fedoruk Centre), which houses an ACSI TR24 cyclotron, hot cells and other radioactive work areas, PET/SPECT/CT, and other ancillary radiochemistry equipment. This project is a close collaboration between the Price group at the UofS, Dr. Jonathan Engle at Madison-Wisconsin (, and Dr. Valery Radchenko ( at TRIUMF (Life Sciences). The hired candidate will be co-mentored by Drs. Price, Engle, and Radchenko. The postdoctoral fellow (PDF) hired for this position will be employed by the UofS and based in Saskatoon but will be required to travel semi-frequently between these three sites (funded travel) in the USA and Canada. This position is for a funded two-year project, starting with a one-year contract that will be renewed after one year with satisfactory performance. At the close of this two-year project there is the possibility of further extension depending on performance and availability of funding. This will provide an excellent experience to obtain mentorship and skills in cyclotron targetry and radionuclide production at different world-leading sites and translate skills to the UofS to perform preclinical studies using the produced radionuclides.

Nature of Work: The successful candidate will gain experience producing and purifying radionuclides using various analytical techniques (Gamma and alpha spectroscopy, target dissolution, ICP-MS, TLC, HPLC etc.). If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Eric Price (

Typical Duties/Accountabilities: The candidate is expected to perform at a high scientific level, work independently, help supervise students, and assist with writing grants and publications.

Education: The successful candidate should have a PhD in chemistry, physics, or related disciplines.

Experience: Previous experience in radionuclide production or radiochemistry being ideal but not required.

Skills: Skills in the above-mentioned areas would be ideal but not required.
