Primary Purpose: Reporting to Dr. Andrew Leask, the College of Dentistry is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team in a two year postdoctoral position focusing on the role of the tumor stroma in driving melanoma metastasis.

Nature of Work: Our laboratory works with industrial partners to develop therapies for fibrotic disorders. The successful candidate will evaluate the role of matricellular proteins in driving fibroblast plasticity in melanoma

Typical Duties or Accountabilities: The successful applicant will be responsible for conducting independent research involving molecular and cellular biological analysis of animal models of cancer which may include conducting literature reviews, collecting data and conducting data analyses, as well as drafting manuscripts and technical reports.


Education: A recent PhD from a Canadian or International University in a relevant field of study obtained within the last 5 years.

Experience: Prior experience with animal models of melanoma metastasis, matricellular proteins/extracellular matrix and bioinformatics is preferred.


  • Academic writing skills, including experience writing technical reports and drafting manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication
  • The candidate must be highly motivated, detail oriented, with a strong understanding of experimental design, execution, analyses and reporting
  • Strong oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
