Upgrading and University Preparation
The Upgrading and University Preparation (UUP) department invites applicants for a one-year Limited Term Faculty appointment to teach ABE Mathematics courses for all levels including fundamental, intermediate, advanced, and provincial. The candidate may also be required to teach advanced level Physics. The successful applicant will be expected to teach a total of six (6) sections (e.g., three (3) in Fall 2020 and three (3) in Winter 2021. The courses may be entirely online. Depending on changes in the COVID-19 situation, there is a possibility of teaching on the Abbotsford and Chilliwack campuses. However, the emphasis is for online delivery. Because the UUP department attracts a wide range of students from all demographics, the successful candidate will bring a demonstrated ability to embrace inclusiveness and diversity in the classroom.
Duties of Limited Term faculty fall within Article 18.2 (Teaching Faculty Duties) of the Collective Agreement, specifically the Teaching and Service components.
The successful applicant will have a minimum of a Master’s degree in Math or Physics and a minimum of two years’ experience teaching ABE Mathematics courses at a post-secondary institution. A teaching credential is required. Furthermore, the applicant must have experience teaching ABE mathematics in an online or remote setting. Experience using the ALEKS program at a post-secondary institution is also preferred.
